Los Angeles by Night

Los Angeles, 2010. The year begins rainy and mild, but still heat clings to the city like wet clothes on slim bodies. You can see it rise off the pavement in steamy waves, entrancing the dreamy lotus-eaters with rhinestone fantasies. The Kindred mask their revulsion of each other with a chimera of egalitarianism that leaves them almost as fractured as their governed brethren; the difference being that they are, technically, free. The Kindred of L.A. are not weighed down by the chains of the Camarilla or the Sabbat; they can exist without constantly worrying about the sensitivities of the Prince. While they may despise each other as much as the undead of any city do, their ravening desire to remain liberated unites them unlike any other faction of Kindred. And in this feverish basin of discord and bedlam they have made their home. And these Kindred, who have indeed won their freedom, through bloodshed and brutality, call themselves Anarchs.

This story takes place at the beginning of 2010. It follows a small coterie of young Anarch vampires (the "Six Inch Nails"), who are forced to navigate the strange and chaotic city of Los Angeles, a tangled web of social connections and relationships, oblivious to the fact that their entire world is about to crumble down around them.

While the players begin their adventures in L.A. stopping gang violence, dealing with hungry fledglings and hunting down drug-runners, in the background, silhouetted against the hazy smog-laced sky, their city is in jeopardy. 7000 miles away in the Cradle of Civilization, mortal archaeologists have discovered an ancient tomb containing a multitude of strange items. Swords, gems, jewelry, and strange fragments of text; along with a massive sarcophagus adorned with imagery of deviants engaging in blood rituals, devouring human flesh, and engaging in taboo pleasures of all kinds. The Babylonian Sarcophagus, as the archaeologists and historians refer to it, is en route to the West Coast. And the closer it gets to the city, the more tense the Kindred feel, the heavier the air, the stranger things seem to become.
